For those who don’t know, MAP stands for Minor Attracted Person, more commonly known as a pedophile. The MAP community is filled with adults who openly admit to having sexual feelings towards children, and post about how they fantasize about underaged children. It’s sick and disgusting, and these depraved individuals try and use tumblr as a platform to normalize their perversions. Let’s review:
Decide anyone who crosses the border without papers will be put in jail and criminally prosecuted (instead of civilly deported, which is what we were doing with most of these immigrants until April 2018)
Separate children from their parents and send them to kid jail
Blame it on the law (while simultaneously claiming it’s not happening) and say your hands are tied
Announce that you are ending family separation: not by ceasing the prosecution of every immigrant as a criminal, but by putting the kids with their parents in adult jail
Don’t mention the fact that it’s actually a violation of the law to detain children in jail (a law passed under GW Bush with bipartisan support, incidentally)
Congratulations! You have now fixed the crisis you created by creating a new crisis! As a bonus, you have reframed the discussion from being about humane treatment of human beings, to one that is about whether immigrant children should be in child jail, or in adult jail. A+

As a little kid I was proud to live in America. I was proud to live in the ‘land of the free’ and I was proud to be able to say I live in a country where we have rights, somewhat decent food health laws, no active terrorism, accepting people, and people in charge who make smart decisions.
Now when people outside the country ask me for the first time ‘where do you live’ I’m embarrassed to say that I live in this country.
I’m embarrassed because all of those things have gone away.
I’m embarrassed that I’m a legal adult now and I open a newspaper or a news website and our president’s latest venture has landed us splashed on the front page of a CHINESE NEWSPAPER.
I’m embarrassed that in the two or three years that this stuff has started happening, our U.S. government seems to have been dominated by close-minded people that aren’t doing crap to fix any issues, or when they do, make the issue worse.
I’m embarrassed that my mom, a wonderful person who deals with immigration, had to deal with the huge blowup when Trump had people sent back to their home countries even if they were U.S citizens and was swamped with so much work that she was constantly tired even though she had nothing to do with it.
I’m embarrassed because the government of the United States seems to have been getting rid of food laws that prevent me from eating my favorite foods.
I’m embarrassed because the United States isn’t doing stuff to fix violations of basic human decency (separating children from their parents? Are you serious?) but instead pulling out of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Apparently, the President doesn’t believe in basic human rights.
And what do you know, I didn’t start being embarrassed until the year Trump was voted into office… I wonder why.
